Surface-enhanced Raman scattering at cryogenic substrate temperatures

چکیده
The recent speculation on the possibility of achieving gigantic enhancement for surface-enhanced Raman scattering at cryogenic substrate temperatures is examined using a simple theoretical model. The surfaceplasmon enhancement mechanism is modeled using the Fermi-electron gas approach instead of the Drude model as used previously in the literature. Due to the diminution of substrate polarizability from quantum effects, it is concluded that dramatic enhancement is unlikely to be achieved by just cooling the surface to such low temperatures.

Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering of Crystal Violet with Low Concentrations Using Self-Assembled Silver and Gold-Silver Core-Shell Nanoparticles
The active substrates in surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy were prepared through self-assembly of nanoparticles on functionalized glasses. Colloidal silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared chemically in two different sizes by reduction of AgNO3 using trisodium citrate and sodium borohydride. Gold–silver core–shell nanoparticles were also prepared to compare between the o...

The effect on surface-enhanced Raman scattering due to the increase in temperature of the metallic substrate is studied via a simple model for physisorbed molecules. Surface roughness is represented by a spherical or spheroidal island, and the temperature effects on the surface plasmon are accounted for via a slightly modified Ujihara model. It is found that the enhancement ratio in general dec...

The formation of high-density silver nanoparticles and a novel method to precisely control the spacing between nanoparticles by temperature are demonstrated for a tunable surface enhanced Raman scattering substrates. The high-density nanoparticle thin film is accomplished by self-assembling through the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique on a water surface and transferring the particle monolayer t...

stabilized Ag Nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using Lee-Meisel method under three different conditions in an oil bath. UV-Vis spectroscopy of the Ag NPs showed a Localized Surface Plasmon (LSP) band around 430 nm, indicating Ag NPs had a size range around 40 nm. To fabricate a surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) substrate, LSP properties of Ag NPs was employed with the goal of detec...
